Qasr Al Watan stands as a monumental symbol of the UAE's heritage and ambition. Spanning over 1 million square meters of intricate stonework and encompassing 22,000 cubic meters of Mughal-inspired decorative elements, the palace showcases unparalleled craftsmanship. The façade, constructed from white limestone, not only reflects the region's architectural traditions but also ensures longevity and resilience against the harsh desert climate.
Omar Khoury played a pivotal role in the realization of Qasr Al Watan's stone elements, overseeing the project from procurement to final handover.
International Procurement Leadership: Omar relocated to Turkey for 18 months to manage the procurement of limestone for the palace's cladding. He supervised every stage, from quarry extraction to shipping logistics, ensuring quality and schedule adherence.
Hardscape Material Acquisition: Following the cladding phase, Omar led the procurement of hardscape materials by relocating to China and traveling to India. He managed the sourcing of 380,000 square meters of stone elements in various colors, designs, and thicknesses ranging from 3 cm to 60 cm, coordinating with suppliers to meet the project's stringent standards.
On-Site Installation Support: Upon returning to Abu Dhabi, Omar collaborated with construction managers, consultants, and designers to facilitate the installation of both external cladding and internal marble elements. He also liaised with marble factories to adapt to site conditions and led a team of installers to ensure timely and quality execution.
Final Handover Execution: Omar worked closely with clients, consultants, and contractor QC teams to hand over the project in accordance with a detailed and tight schedule, ensuring all aspects met the highest quality standards. Omar's comprehensive involvement in Qasr Al Watan underscores his expertise in managing complex stonework projects, from international procurement to meticulous on-site execution.
