The Founder’s Memorial is a national tribute to the life and legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE. Located on a 3.3-hectare site along the Corniche, it combines landscape, architecture, and art — with The Constellation at its center: a suspended, three-dimensional portrait formed by over 1,300 geometric shapes and 1,100 cables.
Beyond the dramatic centerpiece, the memorial features extensive stonework across its public areas, gardens, and structured spaces — designed for durability, clarity, and respect.
Omar Khoury was responsible for sourcing and overseeing the delivery of Omani Beige, a highly durable limestone selected for its tone and performance in harsh climates.
Relocating to Oman, Omar managed the end-to-end procurement process — from quarry negotiations and block selection to fabrication oversight and logistics. He led quality inspections at every stage of production, working directly with quarry owners and factory operators to ensure consistency, finish quality, and timely shipping.
This phase reinforced Omar’s regional sourcing expertise and his ability to manage large-scale procurement with precision and professionalism.
After the successful delivery of the stone materials, Omar moved to the Abu Dhabi site to support installation and ensure smooth execution. He collaborated with construction managers, factory coordinators, and design teams to align technical details, sequencing, and aesthetic requirements.
His presence on site allowed real-time problem-solving, adjustments to match installation conditions, and clear communication between teams — especially important given the symbolic nature and public visibility of the memorial.
The Founder’s Memorial now stands as a cultural and architectural icon. The Omani limestone elements, executed to exacting standards, reflect Sheikh Zayed’s legacy of strength and unity. Omar’s role, from quarry to installation, helped ensure this tribute was delivered with the care and quality it deserved.
